Charles Robert Smith was hit with a 42-count indictment following the mass shooting that left three dead, including a father and son, in Annapolis on Sunday, June 11.
Specifically, Smith was charged with:
- Three counts of first-degree murder;
- Three counts of race/religious crime resulting in death;
- Six counts of attempted first-degree murder;
- Six counts of attempted second-degree murder;
- Six counts of first-degree assault;
- Six counts of Second-degree assault;
- Nine counts of use of a firearm in a crime of violence.
Authorities said that at approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, members of the Annapolis Police Department were called to a home in the 100 block of Paddington Place to investigate a shooting that left nine men with injuries, including three that died.
Three men were killed in the incident:
- Nicholas Miereles, 55, of Odenton;
- Mario Antonio Mireles Ruiz, 27, of Annapolis;
- Christian Marlon Segovia, 25, of Severn.
Surviving victims, according to the state's attorney's office include:
- Rosalina Segovia, 29;
- Paul melvin Johnson III, 28;
- Enner Joel Canales-Hernandez, 26;
- Judith Abundez, 26;
- Harcina Ruiz, 58;
- Mario Ayala Rodriguez, 29.
The shooting was reportedly over a parking spot while a family was having a large party at their Annapolis home.
Smith remains behind bars and is being held without bond.
